Old shade trees, a creek, a boardwalk and a painted heron in Brownsburg’s oldest park.
Play this quest in ShenanigoWhite Lick Creek runs right past downtown Brownsburg. Arbuckle Acres, the town's oldest park, has 1.3 miles of wide paved paths under big mature trees along the creek, and the White Lick Creek Greenway continues north for a mile, boardwalk and all. Watch the ground too: Brownsburg High School art students painted local plants and animals on the concrete covers along the creek trail.
A slow walk of about 2 miles. Mornings bring the most birdsong. Stay on the paths, keep back from the creek bank (it can be steep and slippery), and share the trail with bikes. Brownsburg parks and trails are open 5 a.m. to dusk, and dogs are welcome on a short leash.
Play safe: stay on public sidewalks and grounds, respect private property, and never read your phone while driving.
