Sugar Creek Township Park Nature Loop
Eighty-eight acres at the west edge of town: a gravel trail, open fields, woods and an outdoor classroom.
Play this quest in ShenanigoSugar Creek Township Park covers 88 acres just west of New Palestine, and about half is left wild. A 10-foot-wide gravel trail loops out from the parking lot (about 2 miles if you walk it to US 52 and back), and students helped build the Dani's Dreams outdoor-education trail here, with learning stations about trees, wildlife, water and sustainability.
A slow nature walk of about 90 minutes. Bring binoculars if you have them.
Sugar Creek Township Park is free and open dawn to dusk. Dogs can run in the fenced bark park; keep them leashed everywhere else. Stay on the trail and mown grass, keep clear of disc golf players, and watch for cars in the lot.
Play safe: stay on public sidewalks and grounds, respect private property, and never read your phone while driving.
