Southeastway Park is an Indy Parks nature park on the county line, with a New Palestine mailing address and 188 acres: 80 acres of forest, a pond and wetland, open fields, prairies, and Buck Creek winding through the woods on the west side. About 2.5 miles of paved trail loop the park, and dirt forest trails follow the creek.

Best in the morning, when the birds are busy and the pond is still. Plan on about two hours and 2 to 3 miles.

Free, open dawn to dusk. Leashed dogs are welcome. No bikes on the forest trails, no alcohol and no fires. Don't feed the wildlife, and leave every plant and animal where it is (they are protected by city ordinance). Forest trails get muddy: wear real shoes. Enjoy Buck Creek from the trail and keep off its banks, which can be steep, slick and undercut, and stay out after heavy rain.

Play safe: stay on public sidewalks and grounds, respect private property, and never read your phone while driving.
