New Palestine Kids’ Explorer Day

A morning at Sugar Creek Township Park: a playground, a disc golf challenge, a quiet salute and a nature bingo.

Seven stops for explorers aged 4 to 12 and their grown-ups at Sugar Creek Township Park. Kids lead, grown-ups read the clues and carry the snacks.

The park has a playground, a fitness trail, a nine-hole disc golf course, ball fields, a big gravel walking trail and the Southern Hancock County Veterans Memorial near the entrance. Takes a relaxed morning.

Sugar Creek Township Park is free and open dawn to dusk. Dogs can run in the fenced bark park; keep them leashed everywhere else. Watch for flying discs near the disc golf holes, hold hands in the parking lot, and use the trash cans. At the memorial, explorers use their quiet voices and don't climb on anything.

Play safe: stay on public sidewalks and grounds, respect private property, and never read your phone while driving.
